Comments: These fish inhabit hill streams and rivers as well as ponds, lakes, ditches and irrigation canals. During mating periods, the males of the species are known to exhibit a scarlet coloration. Generally, however, these fish have orange, purple or reddish bodies depending on their locality along with black or red coloration on their fins and large black markings behind the eye, below the dorsal fin and at the base of the caudal fin.

They spend most of their time on or near the bottom so make sure its tankmates swim near the middle or top of the aquarium to give the tank a balanced look. Good tankmates for the T barb could include other active such as Danios, Rasbora and the loaches

Looks best against a background of aquatic plants, live or artificial. Tiger Barbs can also be green, albino and Glofish colors.
